Sound profile selection
Pink and brown noise emphasize lower frequencies compared with white noise, which some listeners find less harsh for overnight use. Mechanical fan sounds avoid looping artifacts present in short digital samples. Test volume at bed height rather than beside the unit—perceived loudness drops with distance.
If sharing a room, directional placement toward the listener and away from a partner can reduce disturbance.
Power and placement
- Placement: 1–3 feet from bed on a stable surface; avoid covering the speaker grille.
- USB power: Verify adapter amperage meets device requirements for stable playback.
- Travel: Compact units may lack battery backup; pack adapter for hotel use.
